I'm in the process of creating a guest VLAN / SSID on our wireless system and deploying a wpad.dat file hosted on our Bloxx web filter.

I have DHCP and DNS settings setup and the wpad.dat file is working perfectly on iPhones/iPads (yippee!!)

However, my Windows Phone 8 mobile is not picking it up :( Does anybody know if Windows Phone supports either wpad.dat or proxy.pac files? I've googled but found nothing.

Cheers

Well what a sack o' sh!t

Whats the point of using something like wpad.dat or proxy.pac to give out proxy settings when it only works on Apple mobile devices!?!?! Thanks for the answers.

So, as a complete re-write of my plan. Anyone know if its possible to set a transparent proxy in Bloxx but only for a specific IP subnet??

Theres a stumper!

Proxy Pac files work for Android (we use it here, and it works fine). Only thing is, some apps don't use the proxy stuff at all (same as in iOS).

Proxies and mobile devices are still very dodgy, so your only "foolproof" option is a true transparent proxy.

From what I'm reading in that article, its only the emulator that "supports" it. I say that in quotes as it would appear that it is the host machine which supports the wpad file and the emulator is able to detect the settings from the host.
