Netgear wn1000rp wifi extender won't connect

Hi all, I'm on the verge of tears so I'm hoping someone can help

 

I have a Netgear wn1000rp wifi extender and a Sky SR101 broadband router. I cannot get the wifi extender to connect to my Sky router. I've looked in the setup guide and followed Option 1, WPS setup and Option 2, manual setup but neither work.

 

When I use the Netgear utility to find my sky SSID it just will not pick it up, it picks up other wifi networks around me but not my router. I have the SSID enabled and not hidden, my latop (inc the laptop i'm running the discovery util on), my phone and tablet can all find and connect.

 

I'm starting to think I'm missing something abvious.

 

Anyone got one of these that can help?

Sorted. It seems that this device doesn't recognise channel 12 or 13, changed my router to channel 1 and it sprang to life
