synaesthesia Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Hi folks - posted in general as this doesn't fit elsewhere! Looks like I missed the free download of Aerohive's Bonjour gateway by a piffling week, and after spending all day swearing at Avahi and my iPad, it seems as though my best chance of success in this area (getting iPads to mirror to a PC screen when they're on different VLANS) lies in this software. Getting a price from Aerohive is like getting blood from a stone. It came as a virtual appliance, would it be cheeky to ask if anyone managed to acquire it during it's free period and could help out? Or failing that, a contact somewhere that can help out with sourcing and pricing.
dany2010 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I know what you mean about getting blood from a stone. I'm trying to get the wireless planner tool, I've been in live chats and email convos with them and still no email with it. Think their poor customer service has lost my business.
Marshall_IT Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Yeah I missed out on this too! This could have been really useful for me :-(
plexer Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 There are alternatives: Create a Bonjour Bridge using Avahi and Ubuntu Server « Ios « haydio // haydn cockayne Ben 1
synaesthesia Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 @plexer I'll try that but I've been battling with Avahi with no luck at all as per my original post. There's some slightly differing options/advice in that one though, so will see how that fares
Homer Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I do have Avahi working quite well but I need to tweak it, we have a Mac which for some reason likes to sleep/wake/sleep/wake on occasion, and as part of the O/S when it sends bonjour packets on wakeup and then sees itself being reflected by avahi, and then changes its name. I'm sure there's a setting to change but just not done it yet
