GREED Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I have realised how out of touch I am on this sort of thing. So I have a personal website on 1&1. I hate them BTW! I want to move the domain to a Wordpress site I will create (happy to ditch the old site and rebuild), I know I will need to keep 1&1 as the registrar thats OK. I want to move my email too, to Zolo which is free to have your own domain as the domain name, which I have. Once all is working I'll be cancelling my 1&1 subscription (less the registration). So what do I actually need to do to make these things happen and what is the order of play? I'm more frightened of the ends not matching up and I lose the domain or worse the email address, or I miss something meaning I can't close down 1&1 or something like that. All help greatly appreciated!
Edu-IT Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Where are you hosting your Wordpress? For your email, just set up your new mail accounts on the new service and change your MX records. Be sure to backup first.

Marci Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Domain mapping is a paid upgrade that costs $13.00 per domain, per year. Complete the purchase to begin the mapping process. Pointing your own domain at a hosted wordpress is a pay-for upgrade... but they do give you full step-by-steps: Map an ExistingDomain — Support — WordPress.com
