Edu-IT Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 We're wondering whether there is a way to grant another member of staff access to the checks section within staff records (DBS, CRB, all that stuff) without actually granting them access to view contracts, pay grades etc? Looking on the permissions grid it doesn't seem to be possible but does anyone have any ideas on how to achieve it?
GREED Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 It has been a while since I used SIMS, but is the checks panel the same as the contracts panel? If so, then no, if not, then it should be possible.

Looking at User Management it appears you might be able to give access to Staff / Employment Details but restrict access to Staff / Employment Details / Contracts So yes, you should be able to do this.
Edu-IT Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 So what's the process for creating a user with those specific permissions? Do I need to create a new role - clone one of the others - and add that permission in?

Yes, use the matrix you have to select a user group that has write permissions to the Staff / Employment Details section and clone this group. Then amend the permissions of the cloned group to remove all permisssions to the Staff / Employment Details / Contract section, then assign the user to this new, cloned group.
