Stars = Rating

I've benn noticing that people post problems but that the answer is often way above/way below their needs

 

 

So how about each of us rating our own ability (1 to 5) in different roles in our sigs

 

We'd need different catagories such as

 

NM (Network Manager)

TECH (Technician)

TEACH (Teacher)

LNX (Linux Guru) (Geoff's allowed to give himself a 6 )

etc

 

and you could rate yourself like this

 

NM4 TECH5 TEACH0 (one down from God)

or

NM0 TECH0 TEACH1 (an NQT new ICT Co-ord trying to alter a GPO)

 

What do you think

Thats the thing with a forum - people make their own minds up on answers/questions. Many people read into the questions posted by others and find out the true problem - as that is what they do for a living...

 

I think a rating system based on the usefulness of the answer - similar to that used by Yahoo Answers, would be advantageous though...

Which you can decode online here. However I don't think this format is suitable for these forums. Perhaps some extra fields in peoples profiles would be sufficient to convey this information?

 

I like the idea of 'rating' threads too. I've seen it done on other forums.
