Word 2010 taking too long when Opening files from the internet

It seems like a website issue with windows7 /Office, but just wondering if anyone can think of a workaround. When we choose the Open file option (Any word file) from this site Primary Resources: Maths: Numbers and the Number System: Counting , Word takes ages. But the same file downloads instantly when I choose Save or Save as option.

 

I have tried at home and the same thing happens. Any ideas on what chould be causing this.

I have a similar issue with any Office file which is located on a network share. Takes ages to download the file then open it - The problem only occurs with Windows 7 and Office 2010.

 

Office 2010 on XP or Vista works fine.
