Hi all I currently analyse KS2 data (primary) and just wanted to explore how the data and outcomes are analysed at secondary level. What sort of things do you guys (in secondary schools) analyse? Ideally I want to explore questions that can be measured across KS2 - KS4. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have 2 large WIM files at the root of the RemoteInstall folder. I am pretty sure that these are the images that were imported into WDS. What I am wondering is, if these files are needed after they have been imported as images within WDS? Is there any way of being sure that these are not the live image files?

We use Smoothwall and work and use VPN to remote desktop into a server. I setup a laptop using my phone's portable hotspot. All test and it was fine. Now the user can connect to the VPN (from a council connection), but is unable to remote desktop in. The user can’t ping the server either. I have tested the VPN and remote desktop from another laptop (using phone hotspot)and it all works fine. Doesn’t seem to make any sense and I’m starting to thinkit could be to do with the users internet connect, does this sounds feasible. I’mguessing the are using a proxy server for connection. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Minimum client for activations is 5 clients. Office 2016 KMS key for Volume licensing agreements needs to be requested from MS - 08009179016 Problem with MAK is that Auto Activation doesn't seems to be working, which is why I am looking at KMS

I want to install a KMS host server for Office 2016 activations. I have downloaded the KMS Host ISO from volume licensing portal. We currently don't have a KMS server on site. Do I need to just run the KMS host vbs file from the ISO. or do I need to do something else first to make the server into a KMS host?

Hi all Just wondering if anyone is using Smoothwall and they can help me with a configuration. I need to allow an external user to access their company VPN while they are in our school. They have their own device and only connect to our WiFi. I have been given these details and but not sure how set the configuration in Smoothwall. IP address - XXX.XX.XX.XX IKE Nat traversal - UDP4500 IKE - TCP500 TCP 10000 I have created a new outgoing port rule to allow all TCP and UDP ports. and I have created a new outgoing policy to use my newly created port rule for the destination IP I have been given. Am I on the right track?

We have 30 thin clients running XP. They are running some locked down version of XP, fits on 1GB. On the desktop there is a shortcut to remote desktop services. I have no access to anything else, I don't know how they are locked down as they we installed before my time. Over the time I needed to clone a few, which means a few have the same name. This seem to be working and there are no issues connecting to RD server, but I'm thinking it might be causing issues and slowness of the server. Can anyone suggest a way to change the computer name? Is there a reg hack I can use and change some ini file? The C drives are shared and I can access them over the network.

We are planning on arranging an advisor to come and deliver online safety training to teacher / ALL staff. I was wondering if anyone knows of a set of resources for on-going training / reference for teachers?

I just don't want to change the subnet right now (While other changes will be taking place.) Maybe I can stay on the current range while the internet connection is setup and get another IP bigger range configured on the router, which we can start using at a later stage. Are there any issues with using a superscope? Can all devices on the different scopes of the superscope see each other? If so, then what is the issue with using it?
-
I made a mistake. The range is 172.18.x.x and we are part of a LEA network. These are our internal IP addresses. I want to keep this range and add a few other ranges. so 172.18.1.x & 172.18.2.x 172.18.3.x and so on....
-
I think I understand how a Superscope will work, but just want to make sure I am not missing anything. We were given an IP range on a 255.255.255.0 subnet which gives us 254 clients. We are getting close to maxing out on the addresses available. We are moving to an external internet provider soon and will be able to choose the IP range. I don't want to change the current IP range, but I want to future proof us. It seems superscoping will do what we need (we can keep our current range and also add other ranges) So if currently we have 172.66.23.1 - 172.66.23.254 on 255.255.255.0 Could I add 172.66.24.1 - 172.66.24.254 on 255.255.255.0 and 172.66.25.1 - 172.66.25.254 on 255.255.255.0 and 172.66.26.1 - 172.66.26.254 on 255.255.255.0 So as long as all these ranges are configured on the router and I create a superscope on DHCP, all should work? or have a missed something.

This is the Who is info for Domain name: infokube.co.uk Registrant: Polly-C Limited Now check who the director/s of Polly-C Limited are. Also check the director information for Internet Kit Limited. Just wasted 10 minutes of my life.

InternetKit and the recommended company have the same director. Seems like an amateur attempt of abuse of insolvency laws.

Changing internet provider
Sanm2009 replied to Sanm2009's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Thanks. We don't have anything hosted inside the school. So it seems like a case of plugging the cable in the new router and all should work as long as the IP range is same on the new router. -
We are in the process of changing the internet provider for our school. This is something I have never done before and just wondering what would it involve when we change our network to the new internet access / router. I am hoping to keep the same IP range on the new router.

Just an update for anyone looking to sign up to Google apps for education. I have just completed the process and it has been very simple. No need for access to domain control panel (MX - TXT records etc). I simple had to upload a file on our website and removed is straight after the verification. The whole sigh-up and verification process to all of 10 minutes. Time to start playing now (setting up users ).
-
If I was to setup Google Apps for Education, do I have to use a domain name? Our main domain name is already being used with Office 365 and we don't want to change that.

Does App Inventor 2 requires a separate Google account for each user? or can all users login using the same Google account?

Sharing printer with none domain computers
Sanm2009 replied to Sanm2009's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Yeah, they do get the prompt to login. But I don't want this to happen in the case of this printer. Would adding anonymous users to the printer share have the desired effect? Well the printer is a virtual queue for papercut. I just want it's share to be available from outside the domain. -
I need to share a printer (on local port - not IP) installed on a Server 2008 R2. But users need to authenticate to access the resource, I need none domain computers to access the printer. The printer is shared with "Every one" Does anyone know how to go about doing it. I have come across the option of enabling the guest account on the server, would that cause much of a security risk?

[h=1]I have been using Meraki for nearly two years and every thing has been working fine. However all of the Ipads (that connect through a proxy) have stopped checking in to Meraki dashboard since 29th September 2015. Is this a known issue? Does anyone know how to resolve this? Has anyone else experienced this? I removed the Meraki profile on one of them and then re-enrolled it. The Ipad connected and checked in at that stage, but has stopped checking in since. Any ideas?[/h] I think the issue is solved. It is a firewall issues on our ISP end. I have put a request in to get this resolved.

Sorted now. It wasn't listed as staples. Had to add the attachments the printers have and that enables the staples settings.

Thanks Mathew. I have the queue installed and working now. But I am unable to select finishing option (staples) I get a message saying this feature is not installed. Any idea how to add this, I used the driver that was already installed.
