Windows 8 tablet, like surface pro, that can install adobe suite?

I have been asked to buy a windows 8 tablet, with keyboard, for a new ICT teacher who will need to teach dreamweaver amongst other things.

I'm worried that the adobe package takes up loads of space when installed!

 

I'm just glad I have not been asked to get him an iPad to teach it.

 

Can anyone suggest anything along these lines?

An installation of the CS6 Master Suite excluding Premiere takes up about 14GB of space on my PC excluding what goes into the user profile. Any Intel tablet with a 128GB storage should be adequate depending on what else needs to go on there. If they're going to be using Photoshop as well, I'd avoid the Atom based ones. Although the latest generation Atoms are significantly better than what came before, they still may be a bit too slow for the likes of Photoshop and the storage on them tends to be eMMC (effectively a glorified SD card) and very slow compared to the SATA and PCIe based storages i5 tablets tend to get.

Samsung Ativ Tab Pro is an alternative I can strongly recommend - they're pricey but we bought ours Open Box so far, far cheaper.

 

The Bay Trail powered tablets doing the rounds are great, but would agree with Norphy that they're probably a bit underpowered for that task.

Surface Pro 2, I'd have to say go with the recommended rather than minimum specs. There are just too many other compromises in a tablet. This would give you the 64bit/8gb ram that would really make it practicle. Plenty of storage too for those monster file. I must say though, the idea of running CS6 on a tablet makes me cringe. Someone who uses development software like this sits at it for hours. It's not like reading a news site or checking facebook. I would stongly recommend that you get your Health and Safety rep to do a DSE evaluation and at the very least include a keyboard, mouse and a riser to get the tablet at the right height. Ideally a proper monitor. This isn't what tablets do best. I just don't feel that a tablet is an appropriate device for the job at hand.

Surface 2 or Dell Venue 11 (not the atom) will both have the grunt to run that, but also have the advantage of a real desktop dock for stationary work

Regarding the Surface tablets, we have a number of Surface RTs on site which were bought with the Type cover. I realise I may be a dissenting voice here but I have been less than impressed with the quality of the Type keyboard. The keys are horribly spongy, have a habit of not registering keypresses (this may be my typing style though) and the touchpad is so small it's almost pointless. Whenever I have to use the Surface, I find myself going back to the on-screen keyboard because I find the Type cover so bad. I couldn't imagine using the thing for extended periods.

 

I don't know what would be worth having as an alternative (Maybe a Lenovo Yoga?) but if I were going to be using a tablet as a desktop device as well, the Surface would be towards the bottom of my list because of this.
