Is there a FREE AV Solution for UK Educational Establishments?

Does anyone use an effective free AV solution that is permissible in an educational establishment?

We're looking to reduce costs (I don't want to compromise security, so something that works is needed, obviously) so I was wondering if there is anything out there that isn't just for personal use?

Do you have an EES agreement? If so then you can get the MS one free.

If you already have EES, you can use System Center Endpoint Protection. There are ways and means to configure it without using SCCM if you so desire.

 

We're using it, I have no complaints with it.

You can't use Security Essentials if you have more than 10 PCs.

As I said, it's not that bad. It's reasonably easy to configure and it's catching stuff here quite a lot according to my SCCM. It's better than nothing and it's probably as good as you're going to get if you can't spend any additional money

We use SC Endpoint Protection as part of our EES agreement - not free but its bundled with even on the basic plan so might as well use it!

 

As far as 'how good it is' well...it automatically updates through Windows Update, its easy to configure on my SCCM server, it emails me when it finds something and thus I have total faith in it
