We've got a suite of iMacs running 10.8 which are bound to AD.

We initially had the binding options set to "Force local home directory on startup disk" and "Use UNC path from Active Directory..."

This worked ok, but it meant that the default save location for our users was on the local disk and I couldn't see a way to automatically add their home directory to the side bar in the Finder window.

So... then I unticked the "Force local home directory on startup disk" and then the default save location is their AD home directory - lovely! But... some of the apps (Sibelius and Logic in particular) put some MASSIVE files in the Library folder.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks,

Ant

Hi Ant, did you ever find the answer to this problem? we have the exact same setup and the same issues. We have an additional problem that this library folder also creates 1000's of open files per user on the fileserver and it grinds the (Mac only) VLAN to a standstill and no one can use a Mac on the network untill we reboot the file server.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

I've since moved on from that job - but I think I did it using workgroup manager and redirected ~\Library to \Tmp.

If that doesn't work let me know and I'll ask my old network manager who's still there!

Cheers,

Ant
