Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help, i've gone round with MS Tech support a couple of times and not really got anywhere.

I'm wanting to split Staff and Student GALs and i know it can be done but my tenant doesn't have the Address List Role.

I've been told that my Subscription doesn't have it and been passed to billing but it was my understanding (admittedly i could be wrong) that you could do this with the free subscriptions.

Is it just that my tenant needs to role adding, do you guys have this role/permission in your exchange online?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When I was looking to set this up in our tenant on an Education A2 plan, I recall having to manually create the Address list admin role group within the exchange control panel. The address lists role is not assigned to anybody by default, but is available to be allocated by creating a custom role group, adding the required role which should appear in the drop down list, and adding the admin users to apply it to.

This is what I've tried and the role is not there to be added. Tech support have sent me to billing to get the role added... I'm on the education A2 plan too!

I just checked another tenant of ours. The role assignment is there, and they're just on one of the free Exchange Online plans. Sorry I couldn't help, but certainly sounds like your tenant isn't configured properly with what you should have.
