Asomodai Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Hello all. I am alone in running a school. In 2012 we bought some HP M401DN's. I currently have two on the fritz with the same issue, both claiming paperjams where none exist. One of the printers is BARELY used. As in I only put it into the room over summer from new. The other has been consistantly used. Both are unfortunately just out of warranty. I have tried changing toners and practically dissasembled them. It's weird that both have the same issue, but one has printed less then 400 pages in it's life. Very rarely if I keep resetting them I will get a few more pages out of them, but will always "Phantom jam". Any ideas? I have updated the Firmware to the latest version with no luck.
SYNACK Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Maybe the paper detection sensors are dirty, look for a tear down of the printer or a service manual online and have a good check of all the sensors.
Oaktech Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 http://www.lbrty.com/tech/Manuals_HP/M401sm.pdf I don't have one of these, but we do have 451 and 4025 and we've experienced issues in both of these with paper getting stuck just after the paper tray hidden from sight. Damp paper seems to be an major issue with these too.
