localzuk Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Its your own funeral... The thing with branded servers is that they are developed specifically so the components work perfectly together and perfectly with the supported OS. BYO solutions can cause problems in my experience. Good luck anyway. PS. You may want to buy now, as there is currently a case being heard in the US trade commission regarding the import of hard drives due to the possibility of them infringing on someone's patent. This may cause a sudden unavailability in the next couple of months...
mckeder Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 Yeah, They can cause problems but only if you get crap parts that dont work well together. Most of the time I buy the higher quality parts if I can afford it. Not to worry to much. I will build the first one myself and then if it fails horribly (which I hope it does not) then I will buy one from a manufacture. I have built, I would say, well over 200 pc's/laptops since I have been doing this type of thing so the experience should help me out quite a bit. We will see though. Time will only tell. I just dont see paying so much for a system I can build exactly the same for a heck of a lot less money and (not sure about the servers) most of the time, I have better parts in them than the systems I would have bought. But oh well, we will see.
Heebeejeebee Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Perhaps we could all club together (1500000 / 4177 = 359 each) and use it to take over the world - well schools in the uk at least ;-) lol count me in. I've just had about 100 hours overtime paid and was looking for something to spend it on. HBJB

Heebeejeebee Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I only got it paid 'cos I threatened to take a full month off in lue iand then take some holiday at the end of it (I had 137 hours built up). They gave in and paid me - only at normal rate mind but a nice healthy bank balance this month none the less. HBJB
localzuk Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I'll have to remember that one! I took a day off today in lieu, and still have 2 half days outstanding - but will undoubtedly build up more now that my working hours have been changed from 8:30 - 5:00 to 8:00 - 4:30. I simply no-longer have enough time after school to do any maintenance tasks. That extra 30 minutes at the end of a day makes all the difference, so I see lots of saturday working in future.

If you are hosting a business, you cant afford not to have the support needed to facilitate the business running as its supposed to.
TSCL Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Im still quite new to this whole forum thing but im pretty sure this thread is quite out of date.
