ZeroHour Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) Trying to decide between PC or Xbox One, been playing the beta this weekend on xbox one and it rocks Anyone else tempted? Edited February 16, 2014 by ZeroHour
featured_spectre Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) MERGED FROM OTHER THREAD If anyone wants it, here is a link to pre-order for £25.99 on the PC Enjoy Titanfall for PC END MERGE Honestly not bothered. Been playing a bit on the xb1 and it hasn't gripped me as much as I hoped. Edited February 16, 2014 by ZeroHour
DMcGuigan Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I'll be hitting the demo when it goes open for PC players, looks pretty good!
featured_spectre Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 If I get it it would be on PC, but the beta isn't doing much to impress me. It reminds me of BF2142 but with vastly superior graphics, and a better physics engine.
featured_spectre Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Played more last night, definitely not for me. Going to stop on the Beta now.
Bradlys Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 It's an unfinished, rushed, typical FPS funded by EA the kings of unfinished games, piggybacking off a company which is new... No thanks I hate it
featured_spectre Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 It is more complete than BF4 is, in the sense that it has far less bugs etc.
ZeroHour Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 It's an unfinished, rushed, typical FPS funded by EA the kings of unfinished games, piggybacking off a company which is new... No thanks I hate it In all honesty Activision are the worst company on the planet, so much worse than EA in so many ways IMO. Not sure whats happening with PC Beta, I literally know noone that has got in and my origin friends list is 69 people which is a bit weird. It is more complete than BF4 is, in the sense that it has far less bugs etc. The beta of BF4 was actually pretty stable being honest, not sure how it got borked so much for release.
featured_spectre Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 @ZeroHour thats what I meant. The titanfall beta is more stable than the full BF4 game.
ZeroHour Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 @ZeroHour thats what I meant. The titanfall beta is more stable than the full BF4 game. You dont understand my point, you cant assume because beta is stable the final will be. BF4 Beta was stable too but final wasn't. Open beta is out for pc now, just look in origin->my games, 12gb download.
Soulfish Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Tempted by this, but have no time at the moment and still don't play BF4 as much as I'd like to!
flyinghaggis Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Downloading the beta for Xbox one at the moment...
DMcGuigan Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Played a few games last night, had to struggle with some HORRIBLE artifacting through the tutorial until I could close and turn off my crossfire, you'd think I'd have learned by now not to use it on first play, but hey ho. Enjoyed what I played, the AI farm kinda reminds me of playing DOTA, but more enjoyable.. something strangely satisfying about that SMART pistol lock-on too. So far I've had more luck out of a titan than in one, but I'm learning the dos and do nots still. Dome shields are bad, firing an anti titan weapon while rodeo-ing, also bad. Looking forward to giving it a proper go tonight, the free-running aspect is really nice, flows really smoothly, though I haven't used it as much as I'd like to.. might take to sprinting around roof tops at some point.
andrew_91090 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Can't beat a good old Angry Joe review
HaleStorm Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Played some Beta on PC, with crossfire, no issues, really slick, really good looking game, may wait until the full thing is out and some full version reviews are out until I buy though...espeically as its an EA game run via Origin
flyinghaggis Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) What platform are you guys all planning on buying it on? I'm trying to decide whether to go for XB1 or PC? I'd expect the graphics will be better on the PC and mouse/keyboard control is nice but I'm also thinking the online functionality might be better supported and more reliable on XB1. Also, I think it may lend itself better to playing with a controller due to some of the auto aiming and free running so I'm erring towards the XB1 version at the moment. jamesfed Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Other option is to get an Xbox controller for your PC - best of both world although I only use mine for Arcade style games (never could get used to it being a life long PC gamer!)

Still trying to decide, I tried both versions during beta (next to each other) and there are parts the controller works well with and other parts where keyboard and mouse work well. I am thinking about going for XB1 but still not sure.
HaleStorm Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Well I got a pre-order PC key for half price from a place called G2A who had it on offer...the money was sitting in my paypal so I thought why not....seeing as I've just bought 2 new GPUs it would be a shame to not give them a bit of a challenge
jaminben Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 So I gave into the temptation and decided to buy this for the XB1 (£44 Simply Games).... got nothing much else to play at the moment.
HaleStorm Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Pre-load files are avaliable......the download is 49.9GB!!
ZeroHour Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 Pre-load files are avaliable......the download is 49.9GB!! That's the full game FYI. PC people can play now using con trick if they want too.
HaleStorm Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 That's the full game FYI. PC people can play now using con trick if they want too. Oh i know its the full game files....but 50GB thats HUGE!
Arthur Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) 50GB that's HUGE! 35GB of which is uncompressed audio! WTF Respawn!!! Titanfall PC includes 35GB of uncompressed audio « The Tech Report When word got out that Titanfall would weigh in at 48GB on the PC, I kind of assumed that requirement had to do with super-high-res textures or the like. Well, that's not the case. According to Eurogamer, the game actually owes most of its massive footprint not to high-res textures, but to uncompressed audio. To be precise, the PC version of Titanfall reportedly includes "a whopping 35GB of uncompressed audio." Respawn Entertainment, the game's developer, claims the uncompressed audio was included for the benefit of slower PCs. "A two-core machine would dedicate a huge chunk of one core to just decompressing audio," says Richard Baker, Respawn's Lead Engineer. "We couldn't dedicate those resources to audio." The Xbox One decodes audio in hardware, so it has no such limitation. Why the PC version of Titanfall is a 48GB install « Eurogamer "We have audio we either download or install from the disc, then we uncompress it. We probably could have had audio decompress off disc but we were a little worried about min spec and the fact that a two-core machine would dedicate a huge chunk of one core to just decompressing audio. "So... it's almost all audio... On a higher PC it wouldn't be an issue. On a medium or moderate PC, it wouldn't be an issue, it's that on a two-core [machine] with where our min spec is, we couldn't dedicate those resources to audio." I had a PC with a quad core processor SEVEN years ago. Why are Respawn bothering to optimize Titanfall for gamers with dual core processors? Edited March 11, 2014 by Arthur
ellsandell Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Got the Deluxe Edition (gracias origin ) last night, downloaded today. Around 20GB download and 49.9 uncompressed. Looking good!
