BBC News - Princes William and Harry join flood effort in Berkshire

 

Although I'm aware this could just be a PR exercise, publicity stunt, what-have-you, it's still a lot more than any of the politicians have done. There is a report that William even asked a reporter to "put down his notebook and lend a hand with the sandbags"

 

Pro or anti-royal I still think it's a better gesture than soundbites on TV of "the people of Britain need to be strong" and such

They have probably offered themselves as a PR exercise.

 

But as members of the military they could have been drafted in to help anyway because its part of their job.

I agree, PR stunt or not, they're doing something unlike most politicians.

Thing is, even when he is king I could imagine William doing this and getting Harry and other able family members to help. He has often said he is no better than another person, he was just born into royalty.

Yeah, the Princes certainly do seem level-headed, trying to undertake 'civilian' duties (joining the military especially), even if they're still given 'luxuries' when they do.

Like @LosOjos said, I don't care if it's PR, they're doing something, and that's better than doing nothing and joining in with the squabbles.

I think they get the level-headedness from their mother, along with the "i'm not really any different to any other person" kind of attitude.

 

Especially as they are getting their hands dirty, where as the politicians, have visited, pointed at some things while someone took a photograph and buggered off again
