Is this a reasonable request

At one of my schools the head replied yeah get me some quotes so I sent him 2 one a desktop and one a laptop, no bother get the cheapest one Spot on.

At the other school, I kind of feel like I'm been made to feel guilty for asking for one. Will it stay on site, we dont want you doing other work on it etc.

If its a desktop then Im guessing you'd notice if i walked out with a big Tower under my arm.
