How do I prevent users installing toolbars?

This question may have already been asked but apologies if I missed it when searching.

 

How do i prevent users from installing toolbars (google, yahoo etc). These are getting really annoying as they interfere with other applications.

 

Can this be done centrally via Group Policy? If so how do I go about it?

Any help appreciated (in idiot mode :oops: ...I am new to this)

there are 2 ways of doing this. remove admin rights on machines then they cant install anything. or use ie7 adm in group policy to turn off the toolbars ( however it wont uninstall them, just stop them loading)

For me, it has to be the latter - as we have some software which requires local admin rights for it to run. Irritating, but I put up with it.

Our LEA broadband filters allow them to be installed but not uninstalled

Take a look at a freeware and very simple program called 'Steel Run-as"
