Just experienced the same. Dell Latitude 7420 16GB - Keeps freezing after about 15 minutes. Initial investigation points to Google Drive for the desktop. I think it may be corrupt cache . Cleared cache removed Google Drive and reinstalled. Appears to have fixed it fingers crossed 🤞. Are you using Google Drive for the desktop on your pc?

Outlook Classic not connecting to new Microsoft 365 Tenant
calapso replied to calapso's topic in Cloud Services
Hi Pete, Thank you for responding. Yes, OWA does work for recreated accounts but will not connect on Outlook Classic. The Outlook Classic was aware of the previous shared tenant. Also noticed on one of the user's PC that when she tried to log onto the account on the new tenant it says password incorrect. This Outlook classic that was talking to the previous shared tenant and looks like it is trying to connect to the old one. I have tried clearing out the cache in outlook and also delet the discover files etc but no joy. Looks like Outlook stores some data elsewhere that it is fetching from but dont know where. -
Hi, I signed up for the free version and recently I was asked to verify myself. This entailed goint ti Linkedin etc and get verified and also asked for an ID like passport etc. Really? Linked in is not an option and I don't particu;lary trust them with my data. Is there an better way or should i just ditch Action1 and move onto another provider? Thank you.

We've moved from a shared Microsoft 365 environment to our own separate tenant. As part of this, we created PST files (email backups) for all users from the old shared tenant using Outlook Classic. To continue using our existing email domain in the new tenant, we had to delete it from the old shared tenant first. Once deleted, we added it to our new Microsoft 365 A1 tenant and updated the DNS and name server settings. Everything shows as correctly configured (green ticks). I then recreated an email account in the new tenant using the same address as before. However, when I try to add this account to Outlook Classic (so I can import the PST file), it fails to connect to the Exchange server. To test further, I created a different test email accounts on the same domain. ie test.user@domain name etc .These connected to Outlook Classic without any issues. So the domain setup seems fine, but for some reason the original accounts won’t connect. I urgently need help figuring out why this is happening and how to fix it. Anyone came across this or any suggestion to fix please? Thank you!

Update: Have had deal with with support recently. Had a fault with an Ergo which is still under 3 Year on site warranty. No problem I thought. Called Ergo. They then said I had to call Ergodevices who are based in Warringtom. Gave me a number which was an 0844 number. No alternate number available. School phone system has premium numbers blocked so had to use my mobile. This is 40p a minute on my Vodafone tariff!!! Anyway logged the call and got response to say could I pack the machine and send it to them. This was not practical as the machine was still workable and being used in the class with no spare to replace. Asked for a loan but they had a nosebleed. I pointed out that this is an on site warranty. Finally they sent an engineer out after a week. he turns up with a wrong part. Called them again and after much discussion they rescheduled another visit a week later. A chap turns up and drops off a part and goes away. Called CMS again and they then sent and engineer who finally replaced the part and I got a fully working machine finally. My phone bill at 40p a minute ran to a total of £28 !!!!! I am very concerned as to the quality of support and the personnel used to support. First two people who turned up were Eastern Europeans who could barely speak English. The third one was also foreign but better English but technical knowledge was questionable as I had to guide him. I have nothing against immigrants but I just want a good simple service without any hassle. So Ergo hardware is now supported by Ergodevices who somehow work with CMS. CMS then subcontract it to another company called Echo in this case who then subcontract it to someone else which could be independent self employed 'engineers'. Hmmm do I feel confident with these lot? Most definitely not.Two other technicians I know of have had similar experience. Those of you who maybe looking at VIP, Zoostorm or Ergo beware. I can't speak for anyone else but my experience has been dreadful.

I have quite a few of my schools converted to Ergo kit. Been very happy with the kit (mostly re-badged Clevo). Other main deciding factor was their support which was excellent until now. Since the takeover things have got worse and does not look like it is going to improve. The customer service is useless and have had quite a few issues with them. They don't seem to care and left me with very little confidence. Avoid if you don't want support headaches. I have not ordered any kit since the takeover so I can't comment on the sales side. I am definitely NOT recommending Ergo (sorry) and will be going elsewhere when my schools come up for their hardware refresh.

Hi At present we have 2 x 3com access points (3CRWE875075). We would like to extend the network to add perhaps 4/5 additional APs. The ones we have are now discontinued and replaced by 3CRWE876075. I tried speaking to 3com technical (which consists of a message taker who is not technical). The response back was I needed to buy a wireless switch as well which would cost approx £1500:mad:. I am sure this is good but I don'r have any spare cash in the budget. I have allocated £180 each for 5 extra access points. Question is can I setup a single wireless network with the above mentioned APs without having to buy an expensive switch? I require a single SSID with basic security so classes can use laptops in different areas without having to mess with wireless settings. I have not seen the software that comes with the new AP so i a bit lost how to proceed. Anyone used these 3Com AP's? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Many thanks!

Hi This question may have already been asked but apologies if I missed it when searching. How do i prevent users from installing toolbars (google, yahoo etc). These are getting really annoying as they interfere with other applications. Can this be done centrally via Group Policy? If so how do I go about it? Any help appreciated (in idiot mode  ...I am new to this) W2k3server with XP Pro SP2 clients Thank you

Hi Have a look at Novabackup from Novastor. This is easy to use and has good support for devices etc and it is cost effective. I have just used it for backing up one server and it is good. I have heard good things about other techies using Novabackup in similar envirinment to yours. I have tried using backupexec and Brightstor Arcserve and they always seem to be more complicated to use and therefore when it came to restoring in a DR situation I did not feel confident. I guess it is also to do with fully understanding the products but as training budget was non existent we were left with figuring this out ourselves and no one felt confident. Novabackup on the other hand was very intuitive. Hope this helps

Hi Chalkwellstu! Wow!...My background is also mainframes and AS400s....brings back memories! Really enjoyed working on AS400s until the company decided to go for 'cheap" intel servers and MS to run SAP. What a can of worms that was....But that's history and now I am in ICT in schools and getting to grips with w2k3 servers and Winxp clents......and beginning to enjoy. Hope you do aswell!

Hi One of my schools received DAZZLE 3 Network version. The CD had a MSI so I could deploy it through Group Policy. At last I thought the software vendors have realised that schools now have networks and developing the software for easy deployment.!!!!!Wait for it..... The instructions were to deploy via GP. Then go to one workstation and activate the product. Once that is done you have to copy a file and do a registry hack on each client workstation!!!!. What was the point of creating the MSI and having to then visit each workstation ad do the hack? Has anyone come across this? If so have you fount a clever workround to deploy this? I will be grateful if you would share. Many thanks

Active Directory-Script for Creating Bulk Users
calapso replied to calapso's topic in How do you do....it?
Hi Networkgeezer I agree with you about security. I work in a primary school and this is for primary school kids in Key Stage 1 who have trouble remembering passwords hence no password required. For Key Stage 2 I will require passwords though. Thanks for your input and any help on this subject would be welcome!...I am new to this! Regards Calapso -

I use 2 x 500GB external harddisks (Freecom SL which have usb & lan interfaces) . I use the Lan interface and sited the 2 disks in discreet locations on site. One is Week 1 and other is Week 2. and backups alternate. I use software called Novastor server backup (about £80). Nice and eady interface and can do disaster recovery backups and open file (something you have to pay for as an option on some other software...Veritas etc) This works very well for me. Hope this helps
