Some users on HGfL are having problems with Google [Reported to The Helpdesk and confirmed: HGfL are investigating]

 

Entering a search in Google will either spawn many blank pages or it will display a CAPTCHA authentication page before results are displayed [not all users are affected]

 

Anyone else [outside HGfL] seeing this?

No problems here (Virgin Media). It could be they are tinkering with the SSL intercept features of their web filter? We had to change stuff with our Bloxx filter because Google have started using https for searches

Yes, have both of those here, Welwyn Garden City, only two users affected at the moment, but thanks for that anyway.

Google fine here, sounds like your ISP is straining google so its safety features are coming into play with the Captacha image that usually kicks in when your all hitting it off 1 IP and it assumed its under attack / automated shizzle. Give ita few hrs it will calm down.

Still getting this on my laptop and RDS session, and had loads of calls about it. Tried it on an IE 10 install, had the CAPTCHA letters submission page but didn't go as far as the multiple tabs/pages opening. Someone saw me using the pc and decided they had to use it 'Quickly, just to check something'.

 

Same when I go in the kitchen to wash the cups, someone else always wants to get to the sink.

 

I'll check with the Grid later today.

Updated information from HGfL:

 

It appears that unfortunately there are performance issues this morning. Users have reported getting “The filtering service is currently unavailable” messages. This is currently with Updata. I’ll update you on this post.
