Exchange 2010 can only receive SOME external Email

Hi everyone,

 

We have a server running SBS 2011 with Exchange 2010 and over the last couple of weeks seem to have developed a peculiar problem.

 

Users are unable to receive certain external mail, If I send an email from gmail or Hotmail etc the email will arrive just fine.

 

However if I send one from our personal email address or if a customer wants to send one in from @chickenshop.co.uk or what ever....the emails never arrive.

 

We have a spam filter that the emails hit first, there are no signs of the emails on this server either, if we remove the spam filter and let all emails though they still don't arrive.

 

So long story short, emails from gmail/hotmail etc arrive just fine, emails from @'companyname'.com go into oblivion.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions?

 

oh also, this is a recent fault, until recently it was absolutely fine and there have been no changes made to the server or router, internet provider etc.

Old MX records?

I wondered such a thing myself, however we've spoken to the host and they are telling us all is well.

 

If we do an nslookup for the domain name and mail.domain name they seem to resolve fine to the IP we expect which is 80.229.102.10

 

If I do a trace route for the 80.229.102.10 I'm eventually hit with timeouts from 15 onwards, the last IP it can't get past is 84.92.7.173 which seems to be something to do with plus-net after some searching.

Further development, I can't seem to ping the static IP 80.229.102.10 from the office.

 

If I remote onto the server I can ping the IP fine?

 

 

Also here is the bounce back error from failed emails (I've removed the email address for obvious reasons, it was spelled right)
