Profile pruning - What to keep and what can go...?

Morning all

 

Windows 7 32bit with Office 2010

 

As it's nearly spring I thought I would look again at the default profile on our Windows 7 PC's ready for the new build over the summer. Everything is installed and good to go but I'm wondering if the following folders are ok to delete or will I bring impending digital doom to my users in September.

 

The largest folders on my radar are as follows:-

 

C:\Users\setup\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java

various jdk & jre directories 322Mb

 

C:\Users\setup\AppData\LocalLow\Google\GoogleEarth\unified_cache_leveldb_leveldb2

Lots of 2mb files - 80mb

 

C:\Users\setup\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\extensions 92Mb

 

C:\Users\setup\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\uno_packages\cache\uno_packages 92Mb

 

C:\Users\setup\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice.org\3\user\uno_packages\cache\uno_packages 92Mb

 

C:\Users\setup\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail 20Mb

 

Anyone else deleted these and does anyone have any good reference documents as to what else can be removed to speed up the initial logins.

The google earth one can go. When a user logs onto google earth it will just relocate these under their profile. It’s an extra 80Mb that doesn’t need to be copied at logon. (That’s what I have done)

Windows mail? Do they use it - if not then there shouldn’t be a problem

Can’t say for open office or libre office as we don’t use them.

 

Create a test profile and try it... cant go wrong then!

i tend to be quite brutal and can get a profile down to about 25-30mb any more cutting and it starts to moan.

only thing i leave in app data roaming/local is the microsoft settings and thats about it.
