Cached profiles

We are getting too many corrupted profiles on student laptops on our CC4 laptops bad tablets still despite fixing the technical problems with them. Grey task bars and missing start menu shortcuts that a profile reset and lclear from system properties fixes.

 

Has anyone tried limiting the number of profiles that can be cached to a laptop? I am wondering if this would help things somewhat. I believe this was something that could be done in group policy?

I run it about once a week and clear out any profile that is older than 7 days, but have been known to remove all profiles at start of term etc.

you can change the settings to reduce the number of cached logons heres the info Interactive logon: Number of previous logons to cache (in case domain controller is not available) whilst editing the group policy take a look here too "Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/User Profiles" you can set it to delete roaming profiles when they log off. Hi Danp. For some reason DelProf2 throws up errors and refuses to work on our Windows 8 tablets.

Hi Glen_j. Do you think deleting the profiles at log off reduce the number of profile issues that we experience. If so, we will give that a try thanks.
