The Role

The IT Accounts Officer plays a key role in supporting IT services to students and staff of the University. In this role you will have responsibility for troubleshooting and answering IT queries, and taking the lead for the administration of IT accounts.

 

You will be working in a great customer focussed and friendly team in a supportive and enthusiastic, collaborative environment, where one of your key challenges will be to help identify ways to improve our services for the benefit of the University and its members.

 

The Person

 

You have proven IT support abilities, and demonstrable administrative experience. You are able to work quickly and accurately, and will have a love of IT. You find solving IT queries and delivering an excellent service exciting and rewarding.

 

You are an excellent communicator able to communicate with people at all levels of IT experience, providing reassuring, confident, expert support with minimal jargon.

 

The successful candidate will most likely have a degree or equivalent in a relevant field and have experience in IT support and administration.

The Department

 

Information Services is comprised of four sections: Customer Support, Library Collections and IT Development together directly support almost all areas of University activity, and the Planning and Administration section supports the work of the department. Two JISC services (JISC Monitoring Unit and JISC RSC South East) are also located within the department and provide services to the JISC and wider educational community. A strong emphasis is placed on user support and all provision is targeted as closely as possible to user needs.

The Team

 

This role is in the IT Service Desk team within the IT Support Services section of Customer Support, part of the large Information Services department, which spans both Library and IT services. This is your chance to make an impact to improve our service to customers, and in particular to make the IT account processes more effective and efficient.

The Package

 

This post is offered at £20,972 - £23,586 per annum and comes with a generous package of benefits including 38 days of annual leave (including bank holidays), a contributory pension, flexible working and a great working environment.
