novastorm Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Hello we just brought a nice HDMI monitor and the picture looks amazing. When we connect it up with HDMI cable the sound goes via the HDMI cable but the problem is we get no sound as there is no speakers on the monitor so we cannot have sound! is there a work around for this cos we would like to have sound?
plexer Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 What is the source? You'll need to split the audio out into some speakers. Ben
psydii Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Start -> 'sound' (this should bring up the sound control panel) Set the default output to be a device with speakers (rather than the HDMI monitor)
OxfordBlue Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 it's likely there's a headphone socket on the monitor so you could try using these to power passive/active speakers. if the PC/laptop has speakers you can switch back the audio to the analogue output via control panel. it's a right faff in windows, we use Soundswich program to hotswap between. SoundSwitch - Home
TomCollins Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 If you go to Sound properties and select the default device as your speakers instead of the HDMI monitor, it should work (fingers crossed).
SpuffMonkey Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 You might need one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AHS8LD8/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001V1VLM8&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=06Q8M0DNP36DZ848FWYP
