vikpaw Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I'll be so glad when all tablets are at the stage where they have fingerprint authentication, and hopefully the apps support this too.
howartp Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Thats usually the same as the iPad pin code so easily remembered... ..by students who watch the teacher unlocking the iPad several times per lesson, either physically or by AirPlay?
zag Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 ..by students who watch the teacher unlocking the iPad several times per lesson, either physically or by AirPlay? We've been using it for 2 or 3 years now and never had that problem as far as I know. About 50% of our teachers register on Emerge every single lesson and had 0 security issues. 1
GREED Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Since they had a unique product they could basically charge whatever they wanted, so lets hope the competition drives down prices Product pricing was and is always based upon extensive market research to ensure it is prices appropriately, not whatever Groupcall want There is competition out there, perhaps not for all the composite parts together in one application, but there are certainly attendance taking apps, student details access apps, behaviour monitoring apps. I suspect if you buy them all individually, they come in at around the same if not more... So my question then becomes, in what is going to quickly become a race to the bottom, what do you feel is an appropriate and importantly FAIR price?
zag Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 So my question then becomes, in what is going to quickly become a race to the bottom, what do you feel is an appropriate and importantly FAIR price? We pay about £1000 for our TASC parent portal a year and I find this very reasonable. The cheaper pricing was actually the motivating reason to move away from SLG. Its apples and oranges I guess, but lower yearly prices can only be a good thing for a companies reputation. Especially when a virtually identical app is released by another company. I look forward to the new feature race as well
zag Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 TASC don't have an app yet do they? Nope, their parent portal is web based.
vikpaw Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Tht so. apps push info, some parents don't want to go and fetch. I think BETT 15 is going to be very appy this year.
Ecclesbury Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Anyone else signing up to be an early adopter for the teacher app? I'm quite excited about getting my hands on it. Will it be the thing that finally gets me back in the good books with the PE department or will it be another Discover-esque anti climax?
Marshall_IT Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I've signed up, around 3 minutes after getting the email. Been asking to sign up for months now..
Marshall_IT Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I'm still waiting for my setup instructions! 😦 It's like waiting for Santa! 🎅
