Access to medical info / next of kin during a critical incident

How are you ensuring that (for example) emergency services can be informed that Jeff is diabetic and his Mum is next of kin on 01234 456 789?

 

Let's assume your site is without power or otherwise unavailable and your critical incident box is in 2ft of water.

We have 2 computers which run a script every 6 hours to download emergency contact details to the local disk from SIMS. One is a PC on a UPS that lasts a good 4 hours, the other is a laptop. In an emergency, either we'd have access to the PC or the laptop would be picked up on the way out the door.

On top of what localzuk put, we also have a medical register (paper based) here which covers everyone and must be checked once a month (updating medications or what have you).

Sounds like the laptop is easily accessible, if it can be swept up on the way out the door. I hope it is encrypted...
