One of our instructors came to me this morning with his iPad complaining that the home button's no longer working. Looking on tinternet I see many, many suggestions on this issue but so far all I have tried have failed. Anyone know of a way of resolving this one please?

Try pressing and holding down the home button and the power button (top right) for about 10 seconds. This'll force a restart.

If this doesn't work, there could well be a physical problem.

The home button is one of the first things to break on iPad's and iPhone's as it is a button that has mulitple uses

A temporary fix is to go to Settings < General < Accessibility < Assistive Touch < Enable

This will give you an on-screen home button until you are able to get the button repaired

We have had this happen to one of our iPads, immediately thinking the button had gone. i did some research online and found this solution to re-calibrating the button:

Calibrate the home button

1. Open a stock iOS app, such as Contacts

2. Press & hold the sleep/wake button at the top of your device until the red slider control appears.

3. Immediately release the sleep/wake button and press & hold the home button. Hold until the red slider disappears.

Let me know if this helps you

Thanks @Dkeen94 too late for me as I exchanged it at the Apple Store last week - the battery was also a problem on that particular iPad; just wasn't holding a charge.
