OWA 2013 Slow Login

Hi,

 

We are running Exchange 2013, works rather well. One issue is that OWA 2013 is slow logging on when you first login to a computer. If you login again on the same computer its quick.

 

Does anyone know what will cause this please? I can't figure it out. Googling only shows results for old version or Office 365. The server has had more resources thrown at it. We are on Exchange 2013 CU3.

Does it make any difference what browser you're using? What about whether you're inside or outside your LAN?

Nope all browsers, all operating systems. Inside and out.

 

Outlook and ActivSync perform just fine.

Are you running Exchange on 2008 R2 or 2012/2012 R2?

Server 2012, all fully patched.

So when it's slow, do you mean to get the login page or to actually login itself?

The actual Login. The spinning thing is in the middle of the screen for about 45 seconds. Once you are in its fine. The loading of the login page is instant.

I had a similar issue with OWA being slow to login once. It turned out the problem was caused by our TMG server.

It happens internally without TMG

Its running CAS & Mailbox roles.

This is a tough one to sort, I guess and with limited info (that's all this is) that its sizing issue. For what its worth ours is a similar setup to yours FN-GM, users here also experience slow first login to OWA

Were you using Exchange 2010 previously and then upgraded to 2013? The amount of RAM used per mailbox is significantly higher now.

I did upgrade but updated resources at the same time. I have thrown more at it and its still the same

With Ex13 and indeed Ex10 its is rarely a case of just throwing more CPU/ Memory at your deployment, I still think that this is a sizing issue and you need to follow the best practises on this as best you can. How many mailboxes? and sever specs? are needed to even start trying to solve this issue as anyone giving any advice on here without that info is just guessing like I said further up. So Server / is it a VM? mailboxes numbers? are you running this along side an Ex10 deployment? have you had a look at perfmon? if so some IO info off the server would be a help. Network info like connection speed and some perfmon on that. Anyone on here will try to help out but the quality of that help is only as good as the info we have to work with! help us to help you. Could you please share, which TMG issue caused the login delay? I have the same

problem, the delay only occurs when

using the published OWA (through TMG). Logging in from the internal network is

always fast.
