Live broadcasting similar to sky sports news

Hi,

 

We need to a little project take a HDMI feed from a free view box into a black magic intensity pro card and then send it back out to a TV with some overlay graphics like sky sports news.

 

Can anyone suggest alternative software to replicate this like wirecast etc

 

Or if they have done the same project what have you used, hardware and software.

 

Bearing in mind this is to be relayed in a school

xSplit is pretty good

We do this on occasion. We use an Edirol LVS-400 vision mixer (~£750). In the past we've used the S-Video out from a graphics card to export the graphics, which were compiled in powerpoint. I've improved on that a bit now, we have a Canopus TwinPact (~£300), which takes in VGA and exports S-Video.

 

From the edirol, we come out into a Canopus AVDC 55 (£150) which converts the video to firewire.

As above, xSplit is pretty good. But its also expensive for the license you would need to broadcast to an RMTP.

 

OBS (Open Broadcast Software) does the same job as xSplit, but it is FREE! I've used both pieces of software fairly frequently, so give me a shout if you want any specific details. Problem being you would need an RMTP server setup to broadcast in school.

 

Xibo is another option and is probably the best shot for you, it can livestream through your BMIP with an overlay and even a powerpoint presentation at the same time. Great bit of kit considering it is free. I don't have a huge amount of experience with it, but our network manager swears by it.

Have a look at vMix, Free version gives your 4 inputs which could be camera/settopbox captures or powerpoints or videos or overlays. We use it for awards evenings and such.
