Garacesh Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Can't use the online converters because the documents contain confidential information and the boss doesn't want to upload it to the internet. Fair enough. I have no idea why it's a .pdf and no idea why it can't stay a .pdf - just been asked to find a way to convert it. Does anyone have any to recommend? Found a few well-reviewed paid for ones, but I have no dolla' to spend on this.

There's a 'Save to PDF' option (but I think that's something I installed a while back) but that's a plugin that looks like it only works one-way.. I tried opening PDF's with Word and it won't do it.. jamesreedersmith Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Go into word, open file, change the type drop down to PDF, browse to your file and open and it will ask if you want to convert it. Save as a PDF is a built in option as well now.

rich_tech Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 if its simple enough text and doesnt have masses of graphics / tables in it then, MS onenote can do the OCR, failing that Foxit stuff isnt bad, but it costs for the product

Garacesh Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Ended up upgrading my Office on my machine to Office 2013 (we use 2010 here, something to do with incompatibilities with SIMS, but I don't use SIMS, so it's fine) and the built-in converter did fine.

Gaz Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Nitro PDF can do this. I went for that over Acrobat for the simple reason that Acrobat is made by Adobe.
