there are 3 ways to open a file 1 start adobe acrobat reader, choose file, open 2 double click a file 3 right click a file and choose Open With you need to try 1 or 3. also be aware many system by default do not show the File Extension ie the ".pdf" bit, so potentially you could be double clicking a ".somethingelse" file

yes, there is no need to put * before and after the barcode encoded data, cuz the barcode creator font will generate the start and stop character automatically. Therefore, if you put * in before or after number, the * will be used as encoded data, not start or stop character.
