Hi,

For the last few days I have been trying to setup Squid authentication on Ubuntu but i cant get my around all the Kerberos/Samba setup. I had Squid on Windows working fine, but wanted to use Dansguardian as well, so thats when i moved to Ubuntu.

What I am now wondering is can i have Squid installed on Windows and Dansguardian installed on Linux and them working together ok, as I am about to throw my toys out of the pram with this?

Edit -- I have realised that this isn't going to work as I will have to have Samba/Kerberos setup for Dansguardian. So does anyone have or know of a good step by step guide to get this to work?

Cheers

We have this. Squid on a windows VM, Dansgardian on the pfsense box. We originally had squid there was well, but authentication was funny at times.

I didn't do the setup, so can't help there, but it is possible

I could not get Squid authentication on Ubuntu working, it seems very flakey. So I have reinstalled squid on Windows 7 with sarg and it is working brilliantly, already caught a student on something he shouldn't. I want to setup a Dansguardian box on Ubuntu now, how would I go about linking the 2 together and can I get Dansguardian to use squid authentication so that I can apply different filters to different group?

Any advice would be appreciated.
