I have a budget of about £200 (could stretch to £250 if need be), need a PC with a beefy CPU and MOBO which can handle an ATI 5770 and 8GB DDR3 ram as mine decided to bunk it. Any and all help appreciated.

Can't look at dabs or ebuyer etc at work so if you have links I can check when at home. I would ideally love an i3 or i5 if feasible.

Between your base and stretched budgets. Top of the line chipset on the motherboard, and absolute beast of a CPU. Total cost £240.76. You can knock down to a cheaper i5 than this to get closer to the £200 goal without crippling the spec.

Was about to post exactly the same (I've been obsessing over PC specs for the past few days)

It's always worth checking out Scan's "Today Only" deals as well as Overclockers bundle deals, when everything lines up just right you can get some very good deals on CPU/Mobo bundles. Neither has anything in your budget at the moment however, just checked; Scan update their deals daily at 3pm, Overclockers seems to be a bit hit and miss.

Do you need case + PSU with that as well, or just the CPU & mobo bundle?

Quite a few sites will do bundles that can save you a few extra quid e.g. Novatech, Scan, Overclockers.

You can get an i3 for the money, for £250 you should be able to get an i5 + Z77 mobo, e.g. Core i5-3570K for £168, Gigabyte Z77 board for around £80 (can't be bothered to work out the difference between those three) - and I only used Overclockers there as it was the tab I had left, might be cheaper elsewhere. 3rd Gen i5 is ample and, if anything, better than 4th Gen (Haswell) for desktop, as it will overclock better (so I've read, anyway). Ignore all that, @3s-gtech posted a better option above. CPU cooler, if you're going to overclock?

I will go for the 3.2ghz varient of the chip. Will suit ny needs just fine, dont need the extra speed. Plus I can always overclock if need be.

Bare in mind that OC capabilities are extremely limited on locked CPUs - the 'K' on the end of the name means that one above is unlocked and therefore has more potential for OC - just something to consider
