Papercut and Brother Printers :(

Hi gang - hoping for a show of hands or at least notifying of a cautionary tale.

 

We're running some new-ish Brother printers here (5470DW, 5450DN 2250DN.) Shared out from 2k8r2 server. We've found a glitch in Papercut whereby multiple copies of documents are not correctly counted/charged with Papercut. Papercut have been looking at the issue, but have concluded it's a fault of driver and won't remedy the problem. Disappointing.

 

Just FYI - if you run a similar set up check it is accounting properly, if not and if you have the opportunity pls pls report it to Papercut and we might yet persuade them to fix this!

Some drivers can be tricky especially for budget printers.

You should grab some other print monitoring software as a test and see if other software works fine on these models, that would give you another option and/or ammo to discuss with the papercut dev team

Go into the printer properties and under the device settings tab there should be an option to disable mopier mode somewhere in the bottom of the list. Mopier mode is used to instruct a printer to print multiple copies of a document without having to send it again for each copy. This might make printing multiple copies of larger jobs a bit slow, but then again it may fix the reporting issue.

Thanks, that is a decent idea. We tried that a little further back but couldn't find the setting. Not even sure it can be turned on/off on those.
