Extending Wi-Fi by 800m to Sports Hut

Ubiquiti NanoStation M5 AirMax Wireless PTP Kit is looking interesting, anyone out there with any real world experience of this kit?

 

Had a couple of Ubiquity M5's on site since September to provide a link to a PE hut. Cost about £125 for two with everything you need in the box and then a couple of cheap satellite mounting kits from CPC for about £5

 

Since September the link has been 100% no dropouts or reboots and we get about 7-8MB/s over the link. Seeing we have had extreme wind, rain etc I think the only other test is snow but it is proving to be a winner.

Upgrade the firmware before you start.

 

They won't work with POE switches with out the 802.3AF adapter. If you use the power brick make sure the mains lead is a very good fit ( had them fall out ).

 

Buy the gimbal mount for them.

 

It's over a year sinc I last touched one but I set up a fair number back then. One install had 8 of them in 4 redundant pairs..

 

 

Another site you could not even see the end point as there was a big building in the way.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Just to clarify, I'm looking to bridge the wi-fi 800m and then connect a normal Buffalo router at the other end to cover the sports field rather than try and cover a 800m radius from the main site. We use two Ubiquiti nanostations to provide a wifi bridge in a situation almost identical to yours. Because of mounting restrictions I don't even have them pointing directly at each other (about 30deg off) and the signal is still strong. I got them for under AU$100 each with poe brick and would easily use them again. The college next to us is using some of the other Ubiquiti gear to provide a backup bridge 7.5 kms across town!
