abillybob Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Hey Guys Don't know why but a certain printer keeps disconnecting from all the computers and won't reconnect. Since I've been deleting it from GP and re-createing it all computer now have like 5 copys of the same printer one says connected and the other 4 don't. Is there anyway I can get GP to delete all printers on every computer and just remap the two that I need like a fresh start? Cheers Guys

abillybob Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 But surely this will take a while for all computers to Delete All and apply that setting then I'll have some teacher still seeing the printers and other not and I'd have to go round and manually check each machine until I'm happy that has applied, then re-deploy all printers again? funscott Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 as shown in the attached image you would set a grou policy preference to delete all printers as the first printer object then add the printers required as second / third objects. as this is a gp preference this updates every 15 minutes by default.
abillybob Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 Ok so I'm under User Configuration - Policies - Windows Setting - Deployed Printers, how do I add the Delete all printers option?? I have also seen the same printers a listed under User Configuration - Preferences - Control Panel Settings - Printers do I need to do this for both??

Boredguy Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 We also have our Group Policy Preferences set to delete all printers as the first task, then it worries about which of our 60 printers it should be mapping based on targeting information.

It's would be better to have it in one of your other policies, or even a dedicated one which is what we did (that way anyone that replaces us can clearly see that "Printer Deployment" policy does what it says)
penfold Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 As Boredguy says, create a new policy for example called "printers" and put the the delete all printer as the first object and then add your printers after that. Apply that policy to a test OU to ensure you have it working correctly and then apply it to where you need it after that.
