Hi everyone,

 

can I ask those of you who have a Lightspeed box, what do you do with regards to Youtube?

 

Do you have anything in place to force the 'Safe Mode' option?

 

Do you block it off for students but allow staff access?

 

Do you just allow it?

We allow all users access to YouTube - our pupils won't be using the computers unsupervised, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm guessing the actual question here is "Do you use Lightspeed's YouTube For Schools facility?", which we don't.

Currently it's allowed under supervision but the boarders and their parents are starting to kick off saying that they should be allowed access to Youtube in their own time!

 

Is it straight forward setting up access to youtube for Ed? I still can't believe how difficult it is to censor YouTube effectively!

Yes but it limits the videos to those just approved for education. It's a two minute job to setup on the Rocket once you have registered with YouTube for an Edu account.
