Student with Arthritic wrist

We have a KS3 Special Needs student who has been diagnosed with arthritis in his wrist. I have been asked to supply a Laptop for his use when is comes to any 'written work' I'm not altogether sure that from a H&S perspective this is the best option. Any advice from here would be much welcome.

Who has asked you to supply the laptop? Ideally some kind of assessment of his needs is required, probably an occupational therapist / physiotherapist would be best able to do this and then recommend the most appropriate way to support him in written and other work.

We get this in our school. So and so has a broken arm and needs a laptop to write. Followed by, how is so and so supposed to print. Followed by the battery only lasts for a couple of hours. Followed by, so and so's friend has tripped over the mains cable and broken her arm, she needs a laptop!!!

 

I'd find out who says your pupil needs a laptop because if it's a layperson you might be doing more harm than good.
