Bit of an odd one.

Would anyone know why printers sometimes randomly appear to follow users?

2008 R2 print server, printers mapped via GPP. Never had any problems prior and to be honest this isn't a huge issue, but every now and then we get one user that logs on and seems to be given the wrong printer.

Item Level Targeting is used and is aimed only at workstations via their security group.

For instance, member of staff in one staffroom managed to print to a printer in the other staffroom this morning. Neither printer is mapped to the other room. No networking issues, Papercut is very clear about the destination and nothing of consequence in the event logs. Logged on as a couple of test users just now, everything is absolutely fine. It doesn't appear to stick to a particular user - in this instance it was just this morning, checking print history on Impero, all other print mappings have been fine historically. Odd!

We are seeing this too: The wrong printer is mapped via GPP.

Client O/S: Windows 7 Pro: 64 Bit: SP1

Server O/S: Windows Server 2012 Standard: 64 Bit

I have experimented in two rooms with the way we used to deploy printers [Print Management: C:\Windows\System32\PrintManagement.msc] although this just creates entries like Group Policy preferences does?

I have found that this works whereas editing a single GPO and deploying all printers for all rooms [as it is set up at the moment here] does not always work?

Edit: Just saw your new post: Chrome is disabled for students: They have never used it.

Aye, we can entirely rule out any GPO/GPP badness, as suspected that's all pukka. Just this one thing for Chrome; again it's only recently happened as I've made Chrome store settings in the users home drive for bookmarks etc. Can't seem to find a way to stop it remembering printers. Not to worry, just a carefully worded email to staff to be careful when printing from it!
