Ghosting RM Ones.. RTL8169 saga continues.... Help!!!!

Hi

I am having a terrible time trying Ghost an RM One

We have Ghost 8.3 and cannot get the RM One Realtek GIGABIT RTL8169 Network Card to load so that we can Ghostcast...

Any Ideas why as RM says it's not their problem..

Look for the Realtek RIS drivers for that network card (on the Realtek website) we had some HP's that need this for the RM build process.

Thanks

Are you saying that I should change the network driver on the RM One and them make a Ghost Disk with the RIS Driver..

Or just make a Ghost Disk with the RIS Driver ?

BTW.. we do not have a RM Network.. we have a vanilla XP/2003 Network and we are Ghosting 34 RM Ones with only Ghost from a Build

How do you boot a machine onto the network to use ghost?

I have machine with realtek gig cards in them but I pxe boot them and load ghost that way.

Not had any problems.

Yep that right use the RIS driver just to build the ghost disk as it proberly needs a dos driver. The windows driver should be fine in your image that you are deploying.

BTW: The RM build process requires dos drivers.

We use a Ghost Boot CD or Flash Drive to boot the PC into Ghost..

From there we have a Laptop or PC that has \Ghostcast started and then join to it..

No RIS or PXE needed....

Did you create the patch file that they wanted you? I could try digging out the RM driver form our system if you have no luck.

Thanks ... for the file offer.. I am really at a dead end and I need to ghost this room...

what patch file do i need to make ?

If you look through the driver files there is a directory with a patch creation utility form a number of files. Also I think I got the driver you might want so if you PM me your email address I can send it.

OK.... phew... managed to Ghost the RM One up to the Laptop after using the Ghost Uni Driver as mentioned in localzuk's thread regarding the NIC

But now the problem is when I try to Ghost to The RM Ones the butsequence stops at "Loading PC DOS".. and just hangs...

Any ideas on how to get it to load?

Hmm... Have you tried using the boot options '--noide --nousb'?

I have seen these mentioned in various places, but don't have any firsthand experience myself.

The other option is to dig out an old copy of real 'MS-DOS' and create a disk from that instead of PC-DOS.

Mmmmmm... What confuses me is that i uploaded from the RM One to the Laptop and PC Dos loaded.... yet when I tried on the other RM Ones to download the image.... the Boot stalled at loading PC Dos......

Mmmm why on one RM but not the other....

I thinks I need to investigate the BIOS settings......

Did you ever get to the bottom of this Grommit ?

I've just got a batch of these and used the NDIS2 driver as a test for Ghost [ using Ghost 8.0 ] and so far - touch wood not had a problem.....

Just out of interest what is the motherboard model of the RM Ones that were trying to be ghosted.

We have over 200 RM machines based on the Ascend 2020B board, which includes an Realtek 8169 gigabit network card, all have ghosted fine on version 8.3.
