Nope I had exactly the same thought process along with "Get that a bit wrong and you are in all kinds of trouble".

He has to be ex-military, or I'll eat my beret.

 

They are a breed of their own. Having travelled to 'work' almost daily in the 70's by chopper, I've known a few of them. I also know that 'pushing the wrong button' is all to possible.... I refer to the flare button, luckily I had just run behind a convenient pile of breeze blocks.
