Exclude a folder from Quotas

We have in the past had quota's turned off for staff but are in the position that we need to turn this back on to limit the amount of junk saved on the network. We want to set a limit and apply it to the staff home drives however, some of the users have saved more than what we want to set the limit as. Is it possible to apply the quota to the root folder and then exclude the staff who have got more than the limit to give them time to delete files while still being able to carry on working?

 

For Example is it possible to:

1)Set a limit of 10GB

2)Apply to Staff Home

3)Exclude any staff with>10GB Home

4)Allow time to delete files

5)Add excluded staff to quota

 

I know I could just set a soft quota and then change it to hard, but what I would like to be able to do is stop more members of staff going over 10GB while waiting for others to delete files.

 

We are using Server 2012.

Yeah set up the hard limit, then change it on certain folders in question. A little time consuming though.

Ah right ok, so I will probably need to:

1)apply a soft quota on the root of the home folder.

2)Set a different quota on the users who exceed the limit

3)change the soft quota to hard on the root

4)Give users time to delete files >then include them in the root quota

 

Does that sound about right?

In FSRM if you quota the folders contained within a folder, say the "staff" folder. then all the members fo staff will be given the quota.

 

They should all appear individually though in the quota itself though, so you can ahrd quota them all then soft quota or give a larger quota to others. That's how i did my students.

We hard quota the students, but I need to be able to ensure that staff who are over the limit can still work until they can delete their files. I wasn't sure if I apply the quota to the root folder if it will override any other quotas assigned to sub folders.
