We currently have an IP address range with a subnet mask of 255.255.252.0, which due to the popularity of BYOD, is about to run out. We've acquired a new IP address range from our Local Authority, where the subnet mask is 255.255.224.0 ... I've added the new range to DHCP, but how exactly do I allow devices to communicate between the two subnet masks? I've had a quick search on Google, but I cannot find anything relating to this. Can anyone help?
free780 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 If you seprate subnets are 192.168.1.x and 10.13.15.x you need a layer 3 router to bridge the subnets. Or f you want you can use a server with the routing role.
cpjitservices Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Layer 3 device is required, IE a router. Just route between the two networks - you can use static routing between the two subnets.
