mattianuk Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Hi all Urgent help needed please - when anymore then 1 user goes to open a document from a share (and it can be any share) one user opens it instantly, the rest get stuck on a downloading screen. This does eventually open the file, but it takes far too long to do so. It only appears to happen in Word, Powerpoint - a 3mb publisher file is fine, and pdfs etc are all fine. When they are waiting to download, the user also cannot then browse into the share weirdly. I can replicate this in the users my documents as well if I use impero to log a load on as the same user and get them all to open the same file. I am at a complete loss, it happens to PCs accross the network, and nothing has changed to my knowledge recently to affect this Has anyone else experienced similar? I urgently need to get this sorted Cheers Matt
DaveCoop Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Hi Matt, are you using Office 365? or any add ins for it? as I've had problems opening from there. So not sure if I can help on this but will try, First question, nothing has changed on the shares but now multiple users cannot open single files if more than one user has tried to open it. Sounds like a possible cache issue or maybe a lack of space in the users temporarily files area in there user profile. Disk Space: I know you've already checked but is there enough space to handle the requests Create a new share and try not to replicate the issue, Possibly on a different server, assign a drive map to the share, allocate it to an ICT class with the resources they need and see what happens let me know how you get on
mattianuk Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 Hi Dave Not using 365, no. Disk Space is more then ample, plenty of free space (over 300GB) Have created a new share, issue still replicates Thanks for the reply.
DaveCoop Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Hi Matt, what servers and desktops are you using ? could you create a new share for just 10 users and give them explicit rights to that folder allocate it and see what comes back
