Hi

I'm sure this has been covered before but can't find it. A member of staff has asked us to block internet for a specific student but I can't seem to get it to work on Windows 7. Previously on XP we used a log on script to add a 127.0.0.1 proxy and a log off script to remove this but it doesn't seem to work on Win 7. This is what we have previously used:

Log on

reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyEnable /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyServer /t REG_SZ /d 127.0.0.1:80 /f

Log off

reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyEnable /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyServer /t REG_SZ /d 0 /f

Can anyone help or suggest another solution?

Many thanks

I made a specific OU with a copy of the pupils GPO but with the alteration of the proxy to point to 127.0.0.1.

Just move the user into the new banned internet OU.

You could also apply the GP to the an existing OU and use a group to restrict who the GP applies to.

thanks for the replies. We don't actually use proxy normally so if I were to put them into an ou with proxy settings enabled and then move them back to the standard gpo would the proxy settings clear? hope that makes sense
