mrbios Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I'm having a problem getting the python GUI to run as a student. It runs fine as an administrator. I've tried a shortcut direct to "idle.py", I've tried a shortcut with "c:\Python25\pythonw.exe c:\Python25\Lib\idlelib\idle.py" but neither work. If i just load pythonw.exe it'll load the command shell fine but they need the GUI to work in. Anyone got any suggestions on this one?
gerardsweeney Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Assuming it's the same thing, I created a script to deploy Python Portable 2.7.2.1 and 3.2.5.1 You're more than welcome to a copy. Send me a PM/email. Cheers, Gerard
mrbios Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 I found my issue, process monitor saves the day! Running the idle.py GUI wanted to create a folder in C:\Users\%username% called .idlerc, this was coming up with access denied (thank you process monitor) So I've created a GPP that creates this folder with an item level targetting option that looks for pythonw.exe, if that exists it creates the .idlerc folder for users automatically.
