Document scanning solutions

Hi

Does anyone have a managed document scanning solution?

We need to scan c1000 invoices per month and would like to automate as much of the process as possible.

Recommendations on both hardware and software would be appreciated.

Where does it need to end up? Does it need to be attached to your finance package.

I would recommend a MFD, kills a number things in one go.

 

The Sharp devices can easily deal with this and the new ones have just got better at scanning too.

 

Sharp scan to email, network folder, Sharpdesk (scanning software on PC - one free license per colour MFD), USB, options are endless.

The Canon DR-C125 is fast but compact scanner and software it comes with allows OCR scanning to searchable PDF files which is handy if you finance software can read the invoice name and auto attach it to right account for processing.

I'd also recommend an MFD, the document autofeed should run through 1000 documents in no time.

It does end up attached to our finance package but that happens automatically provided the filenames are in the correct format.

OCR and the ability to find invoice numbers are the main functionality we are looking for but there is a second function archiving school records and photo's in a searchable database that we would like to be able to do also, so the software is going to be as if not more important than the device.

The Sharp MFD's can name the files to a pattern if required, not near a device at the minute so cannot tell you the options but I know you can modify it if that helps.
