Not sure anyone will be able to help with this as it seems to be an odd, one-off, issue but here goes.

Most of our teachers use Dell Vostro laptops with built in fingerprint readers, we also use offline files to give access to staff homedrives outside of school. This setup is working fine except for one user.

When the teacher in question logs on in school with her finger everything works as expected, however when at home (or when I disable the wifi) logging in doesn’t map the homedrive.

This is where it gets weird. This only happens if a fingerprint is used to log on, if the username and password are entered the homedrive is mapped and the offline files are available.

My question is: How can you log in to the same account on the same machine and get to different results? Surely the fingerprint just enters the same details as typing would do.

It’s not a huge issue as the user will just have to type in her details when at home but it’s one of those problems that is just nagging at me.

Any ideas anyone?

PS tried wiping the fingerprints and enrolling them again. I also mapped the drive, when in offline mode and logged on with finger, but is disappears at next logon.
