studio Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 We are looking at integrating our Moodle and SIMS, with our main objective being that students are enrolled onto their courses automatically. I've contacted a few companies for quotes and were wondering if anyone had any recommendations? Thanks!
synaesthesia Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Overnet data here, great support. They split from "WebAnywhere". Overnet were the bit with the brains, WA the sales people.
FN-GM Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 We use this - ZiLink for Moodle | SchoolsICT Excellent product. 1
mfactor Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Just looking into this for the first time. I was hoping that there might be an open source solution for this integration (even at a basic level) or instructions about what to do to achieve this. I'd prefer that we didn't have to pay for this too on a yearly basis. Has anyone got a roll your own solution that they can share. Needs to be for 2.5 /2.6 as we'll probably start with one of those. Cheers! M

IrritableTech Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 @mfactor - what are you wanting to achieve? We use SSO for moodle authentication then a series of scripts to enrol students into class code courses. The teachers are then able to enrol whole groups of students into their moodle course. Students need their admission number in active directory (we do this on import when they join us), and we have to create (import) class code courses into moodle. After that it runs itself. Obviously this doesn't include time tables in moodle, or attendance or anything else that most of the commercial tools include.
mthomas08 Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 There is a free way of doing it but it does require jumping through a lot of hoops but what it gives you exactly I don't know.

I'm not great at tech but this is now my job to solve (you know how it is ). Are the scripts available from somewhere - I looked at http://www.moodle.org and in the documentation but everything seems out of date there? Are they easy to program - I'm not daft but have zero experience? Sorry for all the questions.
mfactor Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 @mthomas08 Thanks. How high off the ground are the hoops?

They are bespoke scripts created by me with a fair bit of help from people here. I'll try and package them up and explain how it all works together for you tomorrow.

IrritableTech Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Hi @mfactor I've sent you a PM with some files and a rough explanation of what we do here. 1
mfactor Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Hi @IrritableTech Cheers, will look at next week. M
